Description: Sergeant Brophy was struck and seriously injured by a trolley while directing traffic. He was transferred to the hospital with critical leg and feet injuries. Sergeant Brophy remained in the hospital where he developed pneumonia and gangrene. In an attempt to save his life, doctors amputated both of his feet. Sergeant Brophy's health continued to deteriorate and he died nine days after the initial injury.
