Description: Officer Beitel succumbed to injuries sustained in an automobile accident the previous day. Officer Beitel and his partner were on patrol when a car failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of their marked police vehicle. The officers made evasive maneuvers, but lost control of the vehicle, causing it to crash. Both officers were taken to the hospital in serious condition; Officer Beitel succumbed to his injuries several hours later. The second officer recovered from the injuries he sustained in the crash.
