Description: Trooper Black and Canadian Constable Donald Irwin were shot as they approached a suspicious vehicle at a rest stop along I-95. The officers were killed by armor-piercing, Teflon coated KTW "cop-killer" bullets. This is the only case known thus far where a law enforcement officer was killed by armor-piercing bullets. The suspects were captured and tried in a court of law. One suspect was found guilty of second-degree murder. The second suspect died in the electric chair and the third suspect pled guilty to a lesser charge was released from prison in 1992.
