Description: Deputy Sheriff Benoit died in a head-on automobile crash while en route to serve a warrant. Deputy Benoit was driving to his first contact of the morning when an oncoming vehicle crossed the center line and struck Deputy Benoit head-on. Deputy Benoit was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. The suspect driver had fallen asleep at the wheel.
