Description: Deputy Sheriff Bellar was shot without provocation when he stopped to provide assistance at an accident scene. While on patrol, Deputy Bellar observed two vehicles involved in what appeared to be a car accident and radioed for back up. Unbeknownst to Deputy Bellar, a domestic disturbance was in progress in which a man was threatening to kill his wife. As Deputy Bellar approached the vehicles, the man opened fire. Deputy Bellar was airlifted to a nearby hospital where he died the following morning. The suspect committed suicide.
