Description: Sergeant Betters suffered a heart attack less than 24 hours after evacuating residents from a burning building. At 8:55 am, Sergeant Betters arrived at the scene of the fire, evacuated the second and third floors and remained on the scene for an hour to complete the initial investigation. At 12:00 noon, Sergeant Betters participated in a funeral detail for a police department employee. Sergeant Betters suffered a fatal heart attack at 4:45 am while at home.
