Description: Deputy Sheriff Bornet died in an automobile crash while in pursuit of a hit and run driver. Deputy Bornet was on his lunch break and in full uniform, when his truck was struck by another driver who failed to stop. Deputy Bornet pursued the driver, pulled alongside the car and flagged the driver to pull over. The driver ignored Deputy Bornet's signals. Deputy Bornet then employed a PIT maneuver and the driver struck his truck a second time. As a result, Deputy Bornet lost control of his truck and crashed into a brick wall. Deputy Bornet died at the scene.
