Description: Deputy Broaddus and two guards were transporting a prisoner from Collin County to Montague. The men set up camp along Bolivar Creek and were preparing a meal when the prisoner grabbed the gun of one of the guards and fatally shot Deputy Broaddus. The prisoner then disarmed the other guard and escaped on horseback. The prisoner was captured in Arizona.
