Description: Police Officer Birdsall was shot in the chest as he and his partner attempted to arrest a suspect who had kidnapped a woman at gunpoint. Officer Birdsall was transported to the hospital where he died during surgery. The suspect was convicted of first degree murder and sentenced to death.
