Description: Sergeant Bennett had just left the department headquarters for lunch when he received a call regarding a robbery at a local bank. Sergeant Bennett responded to the robbery and entered the back parking lot of the bank. One of the suspects dressed in a police uniform exited the rear of the bank with a female hostage. The hostage was able to break free and an exchange of gunfire began between Sergeant Bennett and the suspect. Sergeant Bennett was fatally shot by the suspect and died shortly after arrival at a local hospital.
