Description: Detention Sergeant Brown succumbed to injuries sustained while attempting to restrain an inmate on August 30, 2009. After consuming pills, the inmate broke off the sprinkler head in his cell causing it to flood. As Sergeant Brown attempted to remove the inmate, the inmate shoved Sergeant Brown into wall and onto the floor of the cell. Sergeant Brown was transported to the hospital with back pain and underwent surgery for a fractured vertebrae. Sergeant Brown's succumbed to his injuries one week later. The inmate was charged with homicide in connection with Sergeant Brown's death.
