Description: Deputy Sheriffs Baker and Gerald Morris were both shot in an exchange of gunfire with two robbery suspects at a clothing store. Both deputies were working at off-duty security jobs but answered the dispatch call for help and arrived separately to the robbery in progress. Deputy Baker was shot multiple times and died at the scene. Deputy Morris fatally shot the first suspect and sustained a gunshot wound to the throat. Deputy Morris was transported to the hospital where he died. The second suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to 100 years in prison.
