Description: Chief of Police Bowlin was shot as he attempted to arrest an intoxicated man who was threatening to shoot passersby. Chief Bowlin was notified of the disturbance and went to the residence. The suspect, who was in hiding behind the house, shot Chief Bowlin in the neck and torso with a .45 Colt revolver. Chief Bowlin died at the scene. The suspect was shot and killed by a posse the next day.
