Description: Correctional Officer Betts suffered a fatal heart attack while handling an unruly inmate. Officer Betts responded to an urgent staff needs assistance call after an inmate assaulted an employee. Officer Betts and a fellow officer attempted to escort the inmate to segregation when the inmate continued to resist. While ordering the inmate to stop resisting, Officer Betts collapsed. Officer Betts was transported to a nearby hospital where he was pronounced dead.
