Description: Agent Baum was shot in the head by George "Baby Face" Nelson while attempting to apprehend the John Dillinger gang. Agents Baum and J.C. Newman received a tip that the Dillinger gang was staying at a lodge in northern Wisconsin. As the Agents and a constable arrived at the scene, Baby Face Nelson shot all three lawmen. Baby Face Nelson, who was a member of the Dillinger gang, was involved in the deaths of Officer Francis Mulvihill, Patrolman Martin O'Brien and Officer Howard Wagner. Special Agents Samuel Cowley and Herman Hollis killed Baby Face Nelson during a fierce gun battle, in which both Agents also died.
