Description: Deputy Sheriff Bowman was struck when he stepped into the path of a vehicle. Deputy Bowman was attempting to arrest two bandits who had just robbed a gas station. The suspects were shooting at Deputy Bowman who had taken cover behind his patrol car. As Deputy Bowman emerged from behind the car, he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. He was transported to the hospital with massive leg injuries and died several hours later.
