Description: Lieutenant Clayton was shot and killed when she encountered a wanted murder suspect in the parking lot of a local Walmart while she was on duty in full uniform. In an exchange of gunfire, Lieutenant Clayton was struck in the hip and she fell to the pavement. The suspect then approached Lieutenant Clayton, stood over her and fired several fatal shots in rapid succession then fled the scene. The suspect was later captured and charged with several felonies, including first degree murder. Orange County Deputy Norman Lewis was also killed in a motorcycle crash while assisting in the capture of the murder suspect.
