Description: City Marshal Cook was shot when he went to a residence to quiet a rowdy party that was being held. One of the occupants answered the door and opened fire. Marshal Cook was shot three times and his head was badly crushed by a blunt weapon. He was pronounced dead soon after the incident. The suspect was convicted of murder and sentenced to death.
