Description: Patrolman Cummings was walking his beat when he recognized a car that had been reported stolen earlier. Patrolman Cummings began to chase the car and the suspect responded by shooting at the officer. Patrolman Cummings was shot and taken to a local hospital. Patrolman Cummings was sent home on February 21st but died of a hemorrhage on February 27th. The suspect was apprehended and fatally wounded.
