Description: Captain Craw was shot and killed by striking coal handlers. The strikers charged when gunfire erupted. Captain Craw and Officer Mallory were knocked to the ground. Captain Craw was shot repeatedly in the head, and Officer Mallory was shot through the neck. They both died within hours. Nine other Erie officers were wounded in the riot.
