Description: Police Officer Cannata was fatally injured in a single-vehicle automobile crash during a high speed pursuit while attempting to stop and question two suspects. Officers Cannata and Red Posner observed a parked car without a license plate. The men in the auto sped away with the officers in pursuit. A car swerved into their path and the patrol car struck a light post. Officer Cannata was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. Officer Posner was injured but survived. The suspects were not apprehended.
