Description: Trooper Cogdill was conducting a routine traffic stop on I-40, when a tractor-trailer struck his patrol car. Trooper Cogdill and the driver he had stopped were both in their cars when the tractor-trailer went off the right side of the highway and hit both vehicles. The patrol vehicle flipped over and slid approximately 100 feet before bursting into flames, killing Trooper Cogdill. The driver of the tractor-trailer was charged with involuntary manslaughter.
