Description: Patrolman Carter was struck by a vehicle as he attempted to stop speeding motorists who were drag racing. Patrolman Carter had stopped one of the three cars involved in the race and was attempting to apprehend the other two when he was struck as he moved to the shoulder of the road to avoid the oncoming car. Patrolman Carter died at the scene. Four suspects were arrested and charged with reckless homicide.
