Description: Marshal Cowgill was on routine patrol when he stopped by the local bank. Upon exiting the bank, a local citizen entered the bank in an intoxicated state. Marshal Cowgill let the citizen complete his banking transactions before asking the suspect to go home and stay off the streets until he was sober. The suspect then struck Marshal Cowgill in the face. While attempting to arrest the suspect, the suspect drew an automatic revolver and shot Marshal Cowgill six times. The Marshal was taken to the doctor's office across the street where he was pronounced dead. The suspect was convicted of second degree murder and sentenced to life in prison.
