Description: Sergeant Chapin drowned when he attempted to rescue two students who had fallen from a closed trail into the upper Buttermilk Falls gorge. Sergeant Chapin was off-duty but was called to assist in the rescue in the park where the students had been swept into the icy waters. Sergeant Chapin was located four days later.
