Description: Deputy Sheriff Cecil and Posseman John Doyle were shot as their posse attempted to arrest several suspects for the theft of some mules. The mules had been levied to pay a debt and the owner of the mules conducted an illegal raid and retrieved them. Deputy Cecil was ambushed and shot as he approached the encampment and died at the scene. Posseman Doyle was fatally shot as he attempted to assist Deputy Cecil.
