Description: Deputy Cook succumbed to injuries sustained five days earlier in a single-car accident while pursuing a motorcycle. The rider was reportedly operating the motorcycle in a reckless manner and doing "wheelies." Deputy Cook responded to the location, identified the cyclist, and began pursuit. As Deputy Cook crested a small hill, he encountered a semi-truck making a left turn. Deputy Cook swerved to avoid striking the truck, left the roadway and then struck a traffic control box. Deputy Cook remained in a coma for five days before succumbing to his injuries.
