Description: On October 16, 1961, Patrolman Ciecka was struck from behind by an automobile as he directed traffic at an intersection. Patrolman Ciecka retired due to his injuries on May 1, 1962. On September 5, 1962, while at home, Patrolman Ciecka collapsed as he attempted to put out an electrical fire. He was transported to the hospital where he died of a coronary occlusion due to the original injury.
