Description: On April 30, 1977, Chief of Police Claassen was attempting to arrest a suspect on a traffic offense when the suspect became combative. Chief Claassen was struck several times to the back of the neck. As a result of this injury, Chief Claassen physical condition degenerated and he resigned from his duties in March 1978. Chief Claassen did not recover and died on March 13, 1999.
