Description: Chief Marshal Cone was ambushed and shot in the head when he attempted to quell a disturbance. The disturbance was a ruse by the suspects to draw Marshal Cone out so that they could attack him in retaliation regarding a previous encounter. Marshal Cone died of his injuries several hours later. Two suspects were convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison.
