Description: On January 1, 1998, Sergeant Conniff was injured in an automobile crash when an impaired driver struck his vehicle. Sergeant Conniff began his shift at 8:40 am and was assigned to the inauguration detail for Mayor Rudy Giuliani which was scheduled to begin at 9:30 am. Sergeant Conniff was in transit to City Hall in his personal vehicle when the crash occurred at 8:50 am. Sergeant Conniff sustained skull fractures and contusions to the brain. Sergeant Conniff remained in rehabilitative care until his death due to multiple complications of traumatic brain injury on December 12, 2015.
