Description: Constable Coyle was fatally shot as he and a posse attempted to arrest an escaped convict. As Constable Coyle attempted to enter the icehouse where the fugitive was hiding, the suspect shot Constable Coyle in the chest with a Winchester rifle. Chief Orr was also shot but survived. The fugitive barricaded himself in the icehouse which was then set on fire by an angry mob. The fugitive died.
