Description: Sheriff Crum was ambushed and fatally shot outside of the county courthouse by a mentally deranged suspect. Sheriff Crum was seated in his patrol car having lunch when the incident occurred. The court concluded that the suspect was mentally incompetent to stand trial and was committed to a psychiatric hospital for life.
