Description: Deputy Cobert was assigned to keep the peace at a dance in Panola County, Oklahoma. Deputy Cobert took a gun away from an intoxicated man. The man struck Deputy Cobert in the head with a cane and Deputy Cobert shot him in the side, inflicting a flesh wound. As Deputy Cobert was leaving, one of the suspect?s sons shot him in the left side with a shotgun. Deputy Cobert left arm was nearly severed by the impact and he died almost instantly.
