Description: Trooper Cox was shot and killed while conducting a traffic stop. Trooper Cox was off-duty when he observed a traffic violation. Trooper Cox engaged in pursuit of the suspect, which ended at the suspect's home. The suspect entered the residence, emerged with a rifle and fatally shot Trooper Cox. The suspect fled the scene in a boat but was captured a short time after and charged with the slaying of Trooper Cox.
