Description: Chief Campbell and Officer Yost responded to a citizen's complaint against her husband who had been beating her. When they arrived at the residence suspect met them at the door with his rifle in his hand. Chief Campbell tried to talk to suspect and ask him to put his weapon down. Suspect then raised the rifle and shot the chief in the eye killing him instantly. Suspect fled the scene but surrendered the next day. Officer Yost was not injured.
