Description: Officer Carmichael and Chief of Police G.E. Bedford responded to emergency call that a robbery was taking place at the local bank. The officers engaged in a ten minute shoot-out with the bank robbers. Several citizens were wounded. Chief Bedford was shot several times, and he died later that night from the injuries. Officer Carmichael was shot several times also, and he died approximately two weeks later from his wounds.
