Description: Deputy Crane was asked by a farmer to help protect his daughter whom he feared was to be kidnapped by an unwanted suitor. Deputy Crane approached the farmhouse shortly before midnight. The farmer, believing the deputy to be the kidnapper, fired several rounds, killing Deputy Crane. The farmer was charged with murder.
