Description: Robbery. Kidnapped and executed by robbery suspects. His murder was popularized in Joseph Wambaugh's book, "The Onion Field." Officer Karl Hettinger was able to escape and survived the ordeal. He was able to help authorities track down and convict Gregory Powell and Jimmy Smith.
