Description: Lieutenant Carroll attempted to arrest a suspect accused of theft. A struggle ensued and Lt. Carroll was severely beaten, slashed with a knife and his skull fractured. The suspect shot Lt. Carroll and the bullet lodged near his spine. He succumbed to his wounds the following day.
