Description: Constable Cunningham, Deputy Bolding, and three other officers went to a neighboring town to arrest two men who had attempted to rob a U.S. mail carrier earlier that day. Constable Cunningham located the suspects behind a store. The suspects fired several shots at Constable Cunningham wounding him seriously. He died of his injuries five days later.
