Description: Officer Cleary and Officer Ryan were investigating a robbery when one of the suspects led them to the second floor. The landlady of the building forced open the door and Officer Ryan went into the apartment first, opened a closet and was shot three times. The suspect ran out of the apartment, shooting at Officer Cleary and severing his spine. Officer Ryan ran after the suspect, shooting him twice, and then collapsed in the street. Officer Cleary was treated but remained in a wheelchair and died of his wounds seven years later. The suspect was caught after responding officers followed a blood trail to his home.
