Description: Patrolman Cain and his partner Officer Tilman Irvin responded to a call where a large crowd of people had gathered after the local saloon had closed. While attempting to disperse the crowd, Robert Collier, a parolee from the Michigan City Prison, pulled out a gun and shot several times at Patrolman Cain. One of the bullets severed Patrolman Cain's aorta, and he died within minutes.
