Description: Assistant Chief Cannon was shot while making a traffic stop on US-64. Dispatch informed Assistant Chief Cannon that the vehicle he stopped was stolen, and back-up was dispatched from the Conway County (AR) Sheriff's Office. Assistant Chief Cannon was shot in the chest as he approached the stolen vehicle. He was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. The suspect shooter and passenger were both arrested for capital murder.
