Description: Deputy Conte and Deputy Carey Barefield were escorting four inmates from the dentist office when he was ambushed and shot in the head and upper torso by an accomplice of an inmate attempting an escape. Four suspects were convicted of murder and received sentences ranging from 75 years to life in prison.
