Description: Officer Chapman was off duty and in civilian clothing when he stopped at a liquor store where he was a longtime friend of the owner. When Officer Chapman went to the back to use the washroom, a robber entered brandishing a weapon and demanding cash. Officer Chapman emerged to find the holdup in progress. Officer Chapman pulled his weapon and exchanged fire with the robber. Officer Chapman was rushed to the hospital where he died on the operating table. The suspect was also shot but survived.
