Description: Jail Matron Chandler while on duty at the Dallas County Jail was physically assaulted by two juvenile female inmates who were trying to escape. Matron Chandler fell and hit her head on the floor during the assault. Her mouth was stuffed with paper to keep her from screaming. A medical attendant in the jail found her unconscious and immediately had her transported to a local hospital where she had brain surgery to remove a blood clot. Jail Matron Chandler died from her injuries the next day.
