Description: Deputy Carper was shot and killed during a foot pursuit of a suspect who fled during a traffic stop. As Deputy Carper caught the suspect and attempted to place him under arrest, the suspect produced a small handgun and shot Deputy Carper twice in the chest. Deputy Carper was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after arrival.
