Description: Officer Candelari was struck by a vehicle while attempting to assist motorists who were involved in a crash. Officer Candelari and a fellow officer were returning home from a hunting trip when they stopped at the scene of a multiple vehicle crash to assist the injured motorists. As Officer Candelari exited his vehicle with his badge around his neck, he was struck by a tractor trailer and killed at the scene. The second officer survived his injuries.
