Description: Dog bite/Rabies. A dog, believed to be suffering from distemper, was taken to the police department where the dog escaped. Officer Clevens attempted to capture the dog and was bitten. The Officer was not examined but a doctor cauterized the wound approximately seven hours later. It is stated that even if the officer was diagnosed properly, seven hours was too late for available treatments to have been effective once the disease had set in. The dog died but was not examined for any disease. This incident happened the previous summer but an exact date has not been provided. The officer died of hydrophobia (rabies) the following April.
